Located in the rural New South Wales area of the Riverina near two local towns of Narrandera and Leeton, Rockdale Beef takes full advantage of the benefits that Australia’s natural resources offer. With over 2,000 hectares of land housing the crops, feedlot and abattoir Rockdale Beef is one of Australia’s largest and most efficient producers of beef. Commencing in 1991 Rockdale Beef began with a growing herd of 400 cattle and through staged development of the feedlot has increasing herd numbers from a minimum of 53,000 cattle to the capacity to produce up to 40,000 m/t HSCW per annum. Cattle brought into the feed lot are selected according to strict criteria and come predominately from fertile cattle pastures in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. The feedlot is managed and operated by a team of experts committed to the humane treatment of cattle and protecting the natural resources of the property. The design of the feedlot takes the welfare of the herd into account with a series of shaded areas to ensure cattle are comfortable and calm, all of which greatly contribute to the high eating quality attributes of Rockdale Beef products. All feedlot cattle are supplied with high quality grains grown in our farmed crops in the Riverina and surrounds. All feed is tested both externally and in our on-site laboratory to ensure nutrient levels are consistent with our stringent requirements and free of any contaminants. From our feedlot to our state of the art abattoir, our cattle are treated by a minimal number of handlers to reduce stress. Rockdale Beef’s abattoir is custom designed and specifically built to process value-added grain fed beef products for Japan and other world markets. Beef carcasses are hygienically processed in the abattoir through the fully air-conditioned slaughter house floor. The carcasses are then stored in modern chillers to reduce the internal meat temperatures of the carcase to ensure quality is maintained during export and providing a longer shelf life. Our own assessors and Australian Government assessors from the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) continually monitor and assess the carcasses throughout the process on a range of meat quality assessments prior to deboning. Once deboned our beef products are vacuum-sealed and packaged to our customer’s specifications for export. |
